El Toratrón® is a theater ensemble that presents a variety of innovative shows with Biblical and Jewish themes. Through a fusion and adaptations of different performance techniques such as role playing, musical theater, story theater and educational theater, El Toratrón® brings to life the characters and wisdom from the Bible while inviting the audience to dive in the stories, Holly days and passages from the Torah, the Hebrew Bible, and its teachings.
El Toratrón® presents Jewish Educational Theatre as a means to motivate children and adults to approach and deepen the study of Torah and Jewish traditions, through interactive shows that invite to rediscover our sacred book. Following closely the Torah passages, Midrashim and biblical interpretations and with an outstanding artistic quality, each show by El Toratrón® reveals the magic lying in the Torah, promoting the interest and curiosity in a unique, fun and profound way.
El Toratrón® goes to each institution and also presents its shows at the AMIA auditorium.
El Toratrón® also goes to school, presenting five shows created for kindergarten and elementary school children:
* “La mesa está Sedervida”. (“The table is Sederve” Pesach special).
* “Torá enCantada”. (“Torah enchanted” Parashat Balak).
* “ReaccIoná” . (“ReactIonah” High Holydays special).
* “¡A prender la luz!” (“Let’s turn on the lights!” Hanukkah special).
Our program includes:
• Original Educational shows based on the Torah stories and Jewish traditions. Each show is a musical theatre piece with interaction with the audience, appealing to children of all ages and adults so that the whole family can enjoy.
• Educational kit:
o An activity folder specially created for the educator to continue in class the theme of the show, with theatrical techniques to deepen in the subject.
o A playbill with additional information and games for each spectator.
o The show CD with educational songs.
• Supplementary activities:
o Talk back with the actors
o Workshops
o Scripts to be used in classroom
o Shabbat and High Holydays children services.
• Shows suitable for every denomination and level of Judaism comprehension.
• Shows played in local language (Spanish) with Hebrew expressions and concepts explained throughout the show.
• A professional team of artists and educators, with experience in educational theatre, Jewish education, performing arts and research in theatre for young audiences.
